Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina to Attend PM Modi’s Oath-taking Ceremony; Nepal PM Prachanda Also Confirmed

New Delhi : Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal have confirmed their attendance at the swearing-in ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sources confirmed on Thursday.

Both leaders had previously congratulated Prime Minister Modi for the NDA’s performance in the 18th Lok Sabha elections.

During a recent phone conversation between PM Modi and Nepal PM Dahal, an invitation was extended to the latter to attend the swearing-in ceremony. Dahal confirmed his attendance during the call, with a formal announcement expected soon.

M Nazrul Islam, speechwriter for PM Sheikh Hasina, stated that Prime Minister Hasina will depart from Dhaka to Delhi tomorrow for the ceremony, following an invitation from PM Modi. Hasina’s visit will last until June 9.

While the possibility of bilateral meetings during the ceremony has not been confirmed, it’s expected that the accompanying delegations will be small.

Hasina’s recent electoral victory in Bangladesh underscores the strong relationship between Bangladesh and India, with both leaders emphasizing their countries’ close ties.

The visit highlights the ongoing diplomatic relations and cooperation between the neighboring countries, demonstrating mutual respect and collaboration.

PM Modi is expected to take oath on June 8, following the BJP-led NDA’s victory in the elections, where they won 293 seats. The main opposition, Congress, saw significant growth, securing 99 seats compared to 52 in 2019.
