Puneet Arora, National Vice President of the National Foundation For Journalism and Media, has emphasized that strict adherence to the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 is essential for maintaining credibility and public trust in digital journalism.

In a media statement, Arora said that compliance with IT guidelines is not only a legal necessity but also a moral obligation for every digital publisher. He stressed that transparency in ownership, accountability in editorial functioning, and accuracy in reporting are fundamental pillars of responsible journalism.

Highlighting the role of media in a democratic society, Arora stated that media must function as a bridge between the public and institutions, ensuring that citizens’ genuine concerns are conveyed responsibly while factual and balanced information reaches the public. He cautioned against sensationalism and misuse of media identity, stating that such practices erode trust and weaken democratic discourse.
The National Foundation For Journalism and Media, he added, remains committed to promoting ethical journalism and urges all digital media platforms to follow statutory guidelines in both letter and spirit, so that media continues to serve society with integrity, responsibility, and professionalism.
