Public Participation in PM’s Vadodara Programme Hits New High

In an innovative move, public participation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programme in Vadodara opened for free registration via BookMyShow. This unprecedented initiative, spearheaded by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), saw all available seats booked within just one hour of opening. Over 42,000 additional applicants have since been placed on a waiting list, illustrating the significant enthusiasm for the event.

Scheduled for Tuesday, PM Modi’s visit to Gujarat and Maharashtra aims to lay foundation stones and inaugurate various development projects worth over ₹35,000 crore in Vadodara. The event will showcase a fully digital entry system. Registered participants will receive a digital M-Ticket linked to their BookMyShow account, featuring a secure QR code for entry verification.

This streamlined digital process prioritizes fast access and smoother crowd movement, marking a significant advancement in public event management.

During his visit, PM Modi will dedicate to the nation three critical sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), encompassing 326 route kilometers developed at an investment of more than ₹20,700 crore. These sections include New Sanand to New Makarpura, New Umbergaon to New Saphale and New Saphale to New JNPT, which are set to bolster the connectivity between major industrial centers and ports.

The direct link to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) will enhance cargo movement, minimize logistics costs, and help alleviate congestion in Mumbai’s railway network. With these developments, the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) will achieve full operational status, strengthening the nation’s logistics ecosystem by improving multimodal connectivity and facilitating seamless cargo transportation across regions.

Moreover, PM Modi will flag off new freight train services operating from New Sanand, New Makarpura, New Umbergaon, and New JNPT in Mumbai. A new passenger train service connecting Tanda Road and Vadodara (Pratapnagar) will also be inaugurated.

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for three significant railway projects spanning 329 kilometers at a cost exceeding ₹9,700 crore. These initiatives include the Vadodara-Ratlam third and fourth lines, gauge conversion for the Miyagam Karjan-Choranda-Malsar route, and the Vishwamitri-Dabhoi doubling project, all aimed at boosting passenger and freight movement.

In addition, PM Modi will initiate three National Highway projects costing ₹1,780 crore. Among these are the six-laning of the Kamrej-Chalthan section of NH-48, construction of major bridges over the Tapi and Narmada rivers on the Vadodara-Surat section, and grade-separated structures at junctions along NH-53.

Furthermore, various Government of Gujarat projects amounting to ₹2,600 crore will be inaugurated, including initiatives like the Vadodara Urban Development Authority Ring Road Phase II and a floating solar project at Kadana Dam. The inauguration will also cover housing projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), alongside a water-supply initiative for 11 villages in eastern Vadodara.

In Mumbai, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026, known for being one of the world’s largest annual fintech conferences. The event, taking place from September 8th to 11th, aims to create a platform for global discussions on the future of finance.

Themed “Potential to Impact: Agentic AI, Tokenisation, Quantum – Trusted, Connected, Global Systems for Inclusive Finance,” GFF 2026 will bring together a diverse array of stakeholders to amplifying India’s position in digital payments and financial inclusion while exploring the intersecting roles of emerging technologies.

The discussions will emphasize how critical advancements, including Agentic AI and programmable finance, can yield inclusive outcomes for various stakeholders, including citizens and enterprises across the globe.
