“UDAN Revolutionizes India’s Aviation Sector: PM Modi”

New Delhi, Oct 21 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday highlighted the transformative impact of the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme on India’s aviation sector, stating that it has significantly expanded air travel access to smaller cities and made flying more affordable for millions of Indians.

Marking the eighth anniversary of the initiative, Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) to emphasize how UDAN has led to the development of numerous airports and air routes, allowing crores of people to fly. “The UDAN scheme has not only increased access to air travel but has also boosted trade, commerce, and regional growth,” the Prime Minister said. “In the future, we will continue to strengthen the aviation sector, improving connectivity and ensuring greater comfort for the people.”

A government post on X further shared the success of the scheme, noting that UDAN has facilitated over 2.8 lakh flights, benefiting 1.5 crore passengers with affordable air travel. The initiative has also operationalized 86 aerodromes and established 617 air routes, vastly improving connectivity across the nation.
