IndiGo has announced the commencement of direct flights between Mumbai and Vijayawada, beginning August 16. This new daily service aims to enhance connectivity between Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, and Vijayawada, the business hub of Andhra Pradesh, as stated in an official release by IndiGo.
With the launch of these flights, IndiGo will expand its operations to include 130 weekly flights from Vijayawada to eight cities across India. This initiative positions Vijayawada as a crucial gateway connecting western India, particularly through Mumbai, to one of the nation’s rapidly growing metropolitan areas. Moreover, it will facilitate easier access to international destinations for travelers from the East Coast via Mumbai.
