Delhi Police Postpones Questioning of Kejriwal’s Parents in Maliwal Assault Case: Sources

New Delhi, May 23  – The Delhi Police may not visit Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Thursday to question his parents in connection with the AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal assault case, according to sources.

On Wednesday, Kejriwal revealed that the police were scheduled to question his elderly and ill parents the following day. Kejriwal’s close aide, Bibhav Kumar, has already been arrested in connection with the case.

Sources indicate that while the police may visit Kejriwal’s residence for questioning in the coming days, they will not do so on Thursday. Kejriwal himself may also be questioned soon, sources added.

In a post on X in Hindi, Kejriwal expressed his frustration, stating, “I am waiting for the police with my parents and wife. Yesterday the police called and asked for time to interrogate my parents. But they have not yet given any information about whether they will come or not.” The AAP has accused the BJP of using the police to harass Kejriwal’s parents.

Atishi, a prominent AAP leader, condemned the BJP’s actions, saying, “Ever since Arvind Kejriwal was granted bail, the BJP has been panicking. They are attacking and conspiring against Arvind Kejriwal and AAP. Summoning Kejriwal’s parents for questioning by Delhi Police crosses all limits.”

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh echoed these sentiments, criticizing the BJP for using the police to target Kejriwal’s ailing and elderly parents. He noted that Kejriwal’s father, who is 84, has mobility and hearing issues, and that his mother had just returned from the hospital two days before his arrest. Singh predicted a strong voter backlash against these actions.

The situation remains tense as the police continue their investigation into the case, with further developments expected in the coming days.
