Police caution pilgrims against fraudulent registration for Char Dham Yatra

Uttarkashi, May 17: Uttarkashi Police cautioned pilgrims against registering for the Char Dham Yatra through fraudulent means, emphasizing that legal action would be taken against those found guilty. The police assured that the ongoing pilgrimage to Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham was proceeding smoothly without any disruptions.

In an official statement, the police highlighted that all pilgrimage routes were open and operational. However, they noted instances of individuals undertaking the pilgrimage after obtaining fraudulent registrations for Char Dham. The police reiterated their commitment to uphold the law and urged pilgrims to adhere to the correct registration process and travel plans.

Previously, Rudraprayag Police initiated ‘Operation Maryada’ to maintain decorum and sanctity during the pilgrimage. This operation aimed to enforce civil conduct among pilgrims and preserve the purity of the journey. Stringent measures were implemented to address misconduct, including misbehavior and substance consumption, at Dham areas and Yatra halts.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Guptkashi, Harshvardhini Suman emphasized the importance of Operation Maryada in ensuring a smooth and safe pilgrimage experience for travelers visiting Shri Kedarnath Dham.

Uttarakhand Director General of Police, Abhinav Kumar, communicated with counterparts in other states to address the unexpected crowding at Char Dham Yatra sites. He urged them to refrain from sending VIP delegations for Char Dham Darshan until May 31, considering the overwhelming turnout.

The Char Dham Yatra, which commenced on May 10, holds immense spiritual significance for millions of devotees across the country. This pilgrimage, traditionally conducted between April-May and October-November each year, encompasses visits to the revered sites of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.

In alignment with the sacred ethos of the Char Dham Yatra, the Uttarkashi Police and other law enforcement agencies remain dedicated to ensuring a harmonious and spiritually enriching journey for pilgrims, fostering a sense of reverence and tranquility throughout the pilgrimage route.
