NEW DELHI, Nov 11: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi emphasized the need to restore an era of people-centric governance across India. He claimed that the BRS government in Telangana is “incapable” of meeting the needs of the people. Gandhi shared a video on his YouTube channel, showcasing his recent visit to the family of a farmer who committed suicide in Telangana in 2020.
In his post, the former Congress chief highlighted the party’s commitments in Telangana, designed to establish a minimum standard for the state’s residents. Gandhi expressed Mahatma Gandhi’s perspective that the last voice in line is the most crucial and cited the case of Kummari Chandrayya, a small farmer from Telangana who faced financial struggles and eventually took his own life.
Gandhi asserted that had the farmer received timely government support, he might still be alive. He criticized the “incapability” of the “Dorala” BRS government in addressing the needs of Telangana’s people, contrasting it with the potential impact of a Congress government.
The Congress leader highlighted the party’s guarantees, such as Mahalakshmi providing Rs 2,500/month to women, free bus travel, and gas cylinders at Rs 500. The party also promises Rythu Bharosa, offering Rs 15,000/year to farmers and Rs 12,000/year to agricultural laborers.
Gandhi concluded by stating that the fight is now for Nyay, justice for all people, and called for a return to an era of people-centric governance across India. In the video, he is seen addressing the concerns of the bereaved family and instructing a local Congress leader to address issues related to the family’s infertile land. The Congress aims to challenge the K Chandrashekhar Rao-led government of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana.
