DRDO Launched UV Blaster to Sanitise Highly Populated COVID-19 Infected Areas

Defence Research and Development Organisation, DRDO has developed by an equipment for sanitising the COVID-19 affected areas named UV blaster or UV Disinfection Tower which is a Ultra Violet based area sanitiser for rapid and Chemical Free disinfection of highly infected- prone areas. It is designed and developed by Laser Science and Technology Centre, LASTEC, the Delhi based premier laboratory of DRDO, the equipment is use to disinfect high tech surfaces like electronic equipment, computers and other gadgets in laboratories and offices that are not suitable for disinfection with chemical methods.
The product is also effective for areas with large number of people such as airports, shopping malls, marts, hotels, factories, offices etc. The UV based area sanitizer can be operated by remote operation through laptop or mobile phone using wifi link.
The configuration of UV Blaster will be like this- The equipment has six lamps each with 43 watts of UV-C power at 254 nm wavelength for 360 degree illumination. For a room of about 12 x 12 feet dimension, the disinfection time is about 10 minutes and 30 minutes for a 400 square feet area by changing the position of the equipment at different places within the room. The sanitizer switches off on accidental opening of room or human intervention.
