Women entrepreneurs can further boost employment amongst JK youth: Dr Sehrish

Director Information and Public Relations, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar addressed a webinar on wednesday on the topic ‘Entrepreneurship and Self Employment Opportunities for Women in JK’ which was organized by FICCI, J&K State Council.

Dr Sehrish was the special guest on the occasion. She spoke about the opportunities available for the qualified young women of Jammu and Kashmir in terms of entrepreneurship and self employment.

Entrepreneurship is seen as a channel for the highly educated young population to explore their potential and subsequently channelize their business acuity. She highlighted the importance of the topic.

Dr Sehrish said that entrepreneurship interventions in particular to women entrepreneurs can further lift up employment and job opportunities among youth especially in regions like JK which so far has remained untapped in terms of human resource potential. It can generate attractive earnings among JK youth especially women.

She talked about the managerial and administrative abilities of women. She discussed about how one can overcome the challenges of finances, legal, societal biases by focusing on their abilities and potential. Women need to create their own form of leadership and for that self confidence is the key.

After this, a panel discussion was also held on topics based on the challenges and opportunities faced by women entrepreneurs in Jammu and Kashmir; taking women entrepreneurship to the next level and the future of women entrepreneurship.
