J&K: 4 tippers seized for illegal mining activities causing damage to environment

July 28: Chand Kishor Sharma, Sub Divisional Magistrate of Chowki Choura along with police team headed by Incharge of Police Post Chowki choura seized four tippers for illegal mining in local nallas of Chowki choura, today.

A list is made of the seized tippers bearing registration number Jk02CB 0443,JK02BP 5966,JK11D3300 and JK02AT3593.All these tippers were engaged in illegal extraction of sand & Bajri from the local nallas of Chowki choura.

Illegal extraction activities done recklessly, has caused huge damage to ecology and environment of the area including decrease in water table and loss of aquatic life. Number of complaints were received by the administration on illegal mining and swiftly acting on this four tippers were seized. It has been mentioned here that for the last two months more than dozen vehicles were seized and legal action was taken by Geology and Mining department for illegal extraction of bajri and sand.
