Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah greet Jammu and Kashmir on Vijayadashami and Gandhi Jayanti, emphasizing values of truth and peace.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Vijayadashami and Gandhi Jayanti. Both leaders highlighted the societal values associated with these significant occasions.
In his message, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized, “On the joyous occasion of Vijayadashami, I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to all for their happiness, well-being and prosperity.” He articulated that Vijayadashami symbolizes the perennial conflict between good and evil. Sinha encouraged the citizens to draw inspiration from this sacred festival towards working for unity, peace, and progress.
As the nation prepares to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti, the Lieutenant Governor paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, marking his 156th birth anniversary. He stated, “I pay my heartfelt tribute to the Father of the Nation. This is an occasion for all of us to rededicate ourselves to internalize Bapuji’s ideals of peace, non-violence, truth, tolerance, compassion and selfless service.”
Sinha reminded audiences of Gandhi’s focus on self-reliance and local production, urging them to buy Swadeshi products to support local artisans and cottage industries. He added, “On this momentous day, let us pledge to follow the path of truth and non-violence, promote peace and work for building a Viksit Bharat.”
Sharing the sentiments, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also conveyed greetings on Vijayadashami, which he described as a festival embodying the triumph of good over evil. He said, “Dussehra inspires people to uphold the values of truth, righteousness and justice under all circumstances.” Abdullah stressed the festival’s timeless message, emphasizing its relevance in building a better society.
The Chief Minister followed with emotional remembrances on Gandhi Jayanti, expressing, “Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless teachings of Satya, Ahimsa, peace and humanity hold greater significance in today’s conflict-ridden world.” He highlighted Gandhi Ji’s unwavering struggle against untouchability and inequality, noting how his philosophy continues to inspire generations.
Abdullah encouraged all, particularly the youth, to embrace Gandhi Ji’s ideals and values of peace, communal harmony, and brotherhood in their daily lives. Both leaders conveyed a unified message: the need for society to pursue harmony and uphold the virtues of morality amid challenging times.
