Mathura Man Arrested for Threatening CM Yogi Adityanath

Police arrested a Mathura resident, Sunit alias “Katua,” for allegedly issuing death threats to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath via social media. The incident unfolded in Nagla Hardayal, Mant area, on Friday evening.

In a disturbing video that went viral, Sunit brandished a pistol and threatened to shoot the Chief Minister before September 25, expressing a desire to take his own life afterward. He displayed a magazine loaded with nine bullets and ominously declared, “I will fire all nine.” Sunit claimed his extreme actions stemmed from a lack of response to a prior complaint he lodged with the CM’s office.

When law enforcement arrived at his residence to apprehend him, Sunit locked himself inside and fired shots from the third floor. He threatened to turn the gun on himself. After an hour-long standoff, police successfully subdued and arrested him, confiscating a pistol and live cartridges.

Local residents suggested that Sunit had been experiencing mental stress and had frequently vocalized his personal problems, exhibiting increasingly erratic behavior over the past months. Community members expressed concerns about his stability in recent times.
