Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurated the new Centre of Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital today in Qamarwari, Srinagar. He urged the medical community to ensure accessible and affordable healthcare, especially in rural regions of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor remarked, “Over the past decade, modern technologies have fundamentally transformed the eye care field, offering faster and more accurate diagnoses along with precise treatments.” He emphasized that these advancements have increased access to care in the health sector and facilitated personalized treatment.
Sinha highlighted how AI-powered systems empower doctors to identify early signs of eye diseases efficiently. He stated, “Dr. Agarwals Eye Centre and other hospitals must leverage new technologies to provide treatments accessible to citizens of J&K, similar to those available in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai.”
The Lieutenant Governor acknowledged the significant advancements in J&K’s healthcare sector over recent years. “Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, we are committed to ensuring that every citizen has access to quality healthcare,” he remarked.
Sinha pointed to the rapid growth of both government and private healthcare infrastructures as key elements ensuring a better future for J&K citizens. He encouraged Dr. Agarwals Eye Centre and similar institutions to conduct free eye check-up camps in remote areas, stating that it reflects the spirit of selfless service.
He stressed the importance of maximizing reach through telemedicine, virtual consultations, and digital examinations to provide services across the region.
Leading figures in the healthcare sector attended the ceremony, including Dr. Ashar Agarwal, Chief Business Officer of Dr. Agarwals Group of Eye Hospitals, alongside Dr. Atif Ali Mir, Head Clinical Services of the Srinagar hospital.
Officials such as Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Secretary of the Science & Technology Department; Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary of Health and Medical Education; and Shri Anshul Garg, Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, also marked their presence at the inaugural ceremony, reflecting a unified approach towards healthcare development in J&K.
