New Delhi, Oct 31 – President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and other prominent leaders paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary, celebrated as National Unity Day. The tribute ceremony took place at Patel Chowk in New Delhi, where India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister was honored with floral offerings.
President Murmu, in a message shared on X, stated, “Humble tributes from the grateful nation on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man, who ensured the unification of the country! Sardar Patel was a great patriot and a leading nation builder. We should take inspiration from his ideals to work relentlessly for nation building.” She also paid floral tributes at Gantantra Mandap, Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Sardar Patel, born in Nadiad, Gujarat, in 1875, played a crucial role in India’s Independence movement and was a key architect of national integration, uniting over 500 princely states into one nation. Fondly remembered as the “Iron Man of India,” Patel’s legacy is celebrated annually on National Unity Day, encouraging unity and solidarity among Indians.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena, Union Ministers of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj were also present at Patel Chowk to pay homage to Sardar Patel’s enduring contribution to the nation.
