Shopkeepers show discontent over the weekend lockdown

Dev Thakur || The shopkeepers and the dealers show their discontent over the weekend lockdown in Jammu that will start from 24 July, Friday at 6 pm till monday 6 am. Most of the shopkeepers are totally against the idea of the weekend lockdown. “There is no use of the weekend lockdown, as the coronavirus won’t infect us considering which day of the week it is, It may happen on any day, be it the weekend days or a monday or a tuesday.”, a local shopkeeper said. Another shopkeeper shared his diagreement regarding the idea of weekend lockdown. He said that there should be a complete lockdown. The government should have implemented a proper lockdown keeping in view the spike in the cases of coronavirus. Adding to this, the shopkeeper said that since there is a growth in the positive corona cases, the government has now implemented the weekend lockdown. They should have done it when the cases were less. Moreover, People don’t follow safety measures properly. Most of the people in the markets roam around without their face covered. There are families that plan out for picnics to different places even in this crucial time. All that the government can do to stop this is a complete lockdown. A shopkeeper also expressed his fear regarding spread of infection in the market. He said that we shopkeers are prone to the risk of infection as we deal with a lot of people either by exchanging money or products.
