Delhi imposes ban on manufacture, storage, distribution and sale of gutka, pan masala for one more year

The Delhi government’s ban on manufacture, storage, sale and distribution of gutkha and pan masala extended for another year. D N Singh, Food Safety Commissioner issued a notification regarding the ban of these products. “Commissioner (Food Safety), National Capital Territory of Delhi, prohibits the usage of these products, in the interest of public health for a period of one year. The manufacture, storage, distribution, or sale of tobacco either flavoured, scented or mixed with any additives or gutkha, pan masala, flavoured/scented tobacco, kharra…” the notification read. The Food Safety Department of Delhi has been issuing notification on the ban of gutkha and pan masala for the last four years. However, there was no ban imposed on cigarettes in the city.
