Sunil Sharma Meets LG Manoj Sinha to Address J&K Issues
On September 16, 2025, Leader of Opposition in the J&K Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, met with the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan Srinagar to discuss pressing local issues.
Key Challenges: Road Connectivity and Essential Services
During the meeting, the primary focus was on road connectivity across Jammu and Kashmir. Sharma noted many villages remain cut off due to landslides and floods, severely hampering movement and access to essential services such as healthcare.
“Restoring connectivity is urgently needed to help the affected communities,” Sharma stated. Disrupted transport routes not only hinder public movement but also impede the delivery of essential goods.
Power and Water Supply Issues in Affected Regions
Sharma also raised serious concerns about the ongoing power supply and water supply crises affecting flood-hit areas. He emphasized that many regions are facing acute electricity shortages and irregular drinking water facilities.
“The situation is dire for many living in these regions,” Sharma said. “I urge the administration to facilitate swift restoration of these crucial services.”
Flood Relief Support for Affected Families
The meeting also addressed flood relief measures currently in place. Sharma expressed that the financial assistance for families with damaged homes is insufficient.
He urged the government to increase this support, enabling families to rebuild their lives following recent devastation. “We must ensure everyone can reclaim their dignity after losing their homes,” he added.
Postponement of Competitive Examinations
Another significant topic of discussion was the postponement of competitive examinations, including the JKPSC Lecturer recruitment and Munsiff exams. Sharma pointed out that candidates are struggling to prepare or even reach their exam centers due to poor connectivity and ongoing floods.
“Fairness in examinations is paramount,” Sharma insisted. He called for the administration to consider rescheduling these exams to accommodate the unique challenges posed by the current situation.
LG Manoj Sinha’s Commitment to Addressing Concerns
The Hon’ble LG, Manoj Sinha, gave a patient hearing to all issues raised during this important meeting. He assured Sharma that these matters would be treated with urgency for timely resolutions.
“I appreciate LG Sinha’s prompt assurance and understanding,” Sharma stated. “As Leader of Opposition, it is my responsibility to advocate for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring their concerns are duly addressed.”
