Rajouri/Jammu, Nov 23 : A local court in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district has declared 14 individuals, including a couple, as proclaimed offenders for allegedly crossing the Line of Control (LoC) into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in 2011, officials said on Saturday.
The declaration by the Munsiff-cum-Judicial Magistrate (First Class), Kotranka, follows an application filed by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Kandi on November 14. This move will enable the attachment of the accused’s properties, the officials added.
The accused include Mohd Aslam, his wife Hakam Jaan, Sobhat Ali, Mohd Sharief, Mohd Iqbal, and Noorani — all from Larkuti. Others named are Khadim Hussain of Kandi, Mohd Azam and Gulzar of Gura Sarkri, Gulam Husain of Peeri, Muneer Hussain of Gakhrote, Mohd Shabir of Panjanara, Kala of Dharsakri, and Zabir Hussain of Kanthol.
A case under the Egress and Internal Movement (Control) Ordinance has been registered against them.
The court noted that general arrest warrants were issued for the accused on February 16, 2012, but none have been apprehended since. Judicial Magistrate Deepshikha stated, “The accused persons are absconding from their actual place of residence, and there is no likelihood of their early arrest.”
The court’s order declared the individuals as proclaimed offenders and directed that a public notice be issued, requiring them to appear before the court within 30 days of the notice’s publication.
