Zelensky and German FM Discuss Ukraine’s Strengthened Air Defense

According to the Presidential press service, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held discussions with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on bolstering Ukraine’s air defence capabilities.

During their meeting in Kiev on Tuesday, Zelensky and Baerbock delved into Germany’s efforts to secure additional air defence systems, including Patriot missile systems, for Ukraine. They also explored the potential delivery of anti-aircraft missile systems from Germany to Ukraine in the near future, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

Zelensky provided Baerbock with a comprehensive briefing on the situation along the frontlines of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and expressed gratitude to Germany for its military support and financial aid.

Baerbock’s visit to Ukraine marked her seventh since the onset of the full-scale war.

Germany’s “global initiative” aimed at enhancing Ukraine’s air defence has garnered approximately 1 billion euros (roughly $1.09 billion) to bolster Ukraine’s air defence capabilities, according to Baerbock.
