Jammu : Republic Day is a special day for India, celebrated annually as a National Festival all over India on 26th January to commemorate and honor the day, as Constitution of India came into force in the governing document of India. This date is chosen as it was the anniversary of Purna Swaraj Day. Republic day is one of the D-days of the Indian national events. India is a democratic country where people can live freely. Much effort has been put towards organizing events and celebrations that occur on Republic Day in India. Similar celebration has been made by the NSS unit, NCC unit and Department of Music of the college. The celebration of the event included various cultural activities. The Principal of the College Dr. Rajni Bhagat, started the event with the flag hosting. Everybody was there to cheer-up the programme. The event became success with a slogan, “Our Flag, Our Pride”. The college Principal addressed the students with her motivational words. This event emphasized the importance of our constitution and indulges patriotism in students.
Different Dance and Singing programmes are performed by the students to provide tribute and dedication to soldiers or those who have made different kinds of sacrifices for country and their people. Special parade was held where NCC cadets took part and followed it with March Past and Drum Beating. Various culture items were presented by the NSS volunteers related to our patriots. A special presentation by Dr. Rakesh Kalotra (H.O.D Music) added colors to the event. Their feeling creates a sense of love for our country and its culture and inspired future generations to dedicate their lives or at least some part of their loves towards the sake of the country. The entire event highlights the spirit of patriotism of new generation or the Indian youth by creating the feelings of responsibility towards their family, society as well as the nation. The event was coordinated by Dr. Chanchal Angral (NSS PO) and Dr. Rakesh Choudhary ( ANO Boys) . All the students and the faculty members of GDC R. S. Pura get together and celebrated this day with great pomp and show.
