Srinagar, Nov 10: The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway witnessed a closure for traffic on Friday due to mudslides and shooting stones in the Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, as reported by the police.
According to a traffic police official, the closure ensued following mudslides at Mehad and the occurrence of shooting stones at T-2 Ramban. “People are advised to avoid journeys on NH-44 until clearance,” he emphasized.
Simultaneously, reports indicate that Banihal, a town along the highway, experienced the season’s inaugural snowfall. The local Meteorological office has anticipated an improvement in weather conditions from this afternoon. The higher altitudes of Jammu and Kashmir received a fresh blanket of snow, while the plains witnessed steady rainfall.
