Srinagar, Nov 8: Dr. Farooq Abdullah, the President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, paid heartfelt tributes to the renowned philosopher and poet of the East, Dr. Sir Muhammad Iqbal, during the observance of Iqbal Day. Describing Iqbal as a distinguished poet and philosopher, Dr. Farooq emphasized the transformative impact of Iqbal’s poetry on the Muslims of the subcontinent, instilling a renewed spirit and enthusiasm among them. According to a press release by NC, Dr. Farooq highlighted Iqbal’s significant role in the struggles of Kashmir, providing moral and ideological support to Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in the fight against tyranny and oppression.
In his message for Iqbal Day, Dr. Farooq expressed that Allama Iqbal’s philosophy remains timeless, offering solutions to various contemporary social, political, and economic challenges. He underscored the relevance of Iqbal’s teachings in addressing these issues. Dr. Farooq encouraged Kashmiri youth to draw inspiration from Iqbal’s message of “Khudi” (selfhood) and equality, urging them to realize their full potential in the face of present-day challenges.
