Kupwara, Aug 25 : Under Slogan ” Meri Mati Mera Desh” Kupwara wushu Association and Indian Army’s 160 Infantry Battalion (TA) jointly organized District Wushu Championship 2023 at Indoor Stadium Handwara on 23 -24 Aug 23.
The event saw participation of over 300 Children and youth including boys and Girls of different categories, Sub Junior, Junior and Senior category.
It was the first time here in Kupwara when about 100 local youth including boys and girls from remote villages of Warsun, Dardsun and other far-flung areas of Kupwara were trained and prepared by Indian Army to take part in District Wushu Championship 2023. These Wushu players were trained by a JCO of Indian Army who has played wushu game at international level.
Ms Syed Sleet Shah, SDPO Handwara witnessed the event as chief guest along with the officials from Indian Army and applauded all players for their participation. She particularly applauded the young girls for not only being competitive but also performing admirably.
All the participants and organisers highly appreciated Indian Army for conducting such events for the youth of Kupwara and they wish that same kind of events be conducted by Army in future also.
Indian Army, Kupwara Terriers remains in the forefront of encouraging sporting events in Kupwara to boost the culture of Sports and enable the youth to come out and participate in sporting activities.
