Jammu, May 31: JKPCC leaders, Former Ministers Mula Ram andYogesh Sawhney, Ex MLA/MLC Balbir Singh and Th. Hari Singh Chib, District President Jammu Rural met with KC Venugopal, AICC General Secretary (Organisation) at New Delhi on Tuesday. The leaders held discussion regarding the ongoing political situation in J&K, upcoming local body elections and other major issues. The former Ministers apprised Venugopal of the on-ground situation in Jammu and Kashmir and sought his guidance for further course of action in preparing for the upcoming elections.
During the meeting, the discussion centred around devising a strategy for strengthening the party in J&K and various challenges and opportunities were chalked out. Venugopal listened to the local issues relevant to the people of the UT and had detailed discussion on the organisational matters, political activity and public expectation with the JKPCC leaders. It was stated in the meeting that the national leadership will work to strengthen the foundation of the Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir.
The leaders present at the meeting also informed Venugopal of party’s ongoing outreach programs and activities. The party workers are continuously involved in connecting with people at the grassroots level. Mass awareness and campaigns are periodically held across Jammu Urban and Rural, they said, to solidify the connection between the public and the Congress party. The assembly elections may also be held in the near future, hence, the party wants to stand fully prepared, for which all steps will be taken to strengthen the party at all levels, and be election-ready, it was further added.
KC Venugopal offered his assurance to the leadership from Jammu that the Congress will continue to support people’s issues in Jammu and Kashmir and leadership was positive that there will be a string of upcoming successes for the Congress party.
