INDIAN ARMY AND NGO CONDUCT LANDMARK MEDICAL CAMP IN REMOTE URI

EXTENDING HEALTHCARE TO UNDERPRIVILEGED COMMUNITIES”

Uri : The third and final Medical cum Veterinary camp was conducted in Uri district in the AoR (Area of Responsibility) of Mike Battalion, under the aegis of Pir Panjal Brigade. The camp took place at Government Boys Medium School, Batgram Village (Soni village), near the Line of Control. The event was organized in association with the Pune-based NGO “Borderless World Foundation.”

This medical camp marked a significant milestone, as it was the first of its kind to be held in such remote areas where access to basic amenities like healthcare, education, and food is limited. The camp witnessed the participation of 14 specialist doctors from Maharashtra, who provided their services under the auspices of the Borderless World Foundation. More than 200 individuals, including women, elderly people, and children, received treatment from the medical team comprising general practitioners, medical specialists, ENT specialists, orthopedists, pediatricians, gynecologists, among others. Additionally, free medicines were provided to the patients.

The joint efforts of the Indian Army and civilian doctors ensured that all patients received free health check-ups and consultations. This initiative reflects the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people. It aims to alleviate the hardships faced by those living in remote parts of Uri, such as Soni village, where access to healthcare has always been a challenge. The local residents of Batgram expressed their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the Indian Army for organizing this medical camp, which brought much-needed relief to their community. The event showcased the Indian Army’s policy of providing a healing touch and demonstrated the unity of “Awam” (people) and “Jawan” (soldiers) in tackling challenges together.

In addition, this initiative aligns with the theme of the G20 summit in the year when India is presiding over the organization. The G20 theme for this year focuses on promoting inclusive growth and sustainable development. By organizing the medical camp in remote areas and ensuring access to healthcare for the underprivileged, the Indian Army exemplifies the spirit of inclusivity and demonstrates its commitment to the well-being of all sections of society.

The successful execution of the Medical cum Veterinary camp in Uri district has not only provided much-needed medical assistance to the local residents but has also showcased the Indian Army’s dedication to the welfare of the people. It serves as a shining example of collaboration between the armed forces and NGOs, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in bridging gaps in healthcare accessibility.
