JAMMU, 13 May: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader and Seh Prabhari Jammu North Vinay Gupta today inaugurated the Directorate of food civil supplies and consumer affairs camp for public awareness here at Sanjay Nagar in Ward no 46, Jammu. The camp was organized by BJP Gandhi Nagar Mandal President and Cantonment Board Vice Chairman Jammu Bharat Bhushan.
While speaking at a function organized in connection with public awareness campaign regarding food civil supplies and consumer affairs, BJP Senior leader Vinay Gupta said, consumer awareness can only be strengthened with the massive participation of all stakeholders besides the effective implementation of several legislations meant for safeguarding the consumer interests. He stressed the need for laying utmost focus on rural as well as urban pockets which need greater awareness about consumer rights and responsibilities. Vinay Gupta also reiterated revitalizing the national slogan ”Jago Grahak Jago”. He said every consumer must be vigilant and aware towards his/her rights and they must get quality consumer items in lieu of their money.
Vinay also highlights the Department of Food and Public Distribution is responsible for the management of the food economy of the nation. He educates and undertakes various activities, such as procurement of food items, their storage, movement, and delivery to the distributing agencies. This section provides requisite information pertaining to the Central, State Government Departments and various other institutions handling the public distribution system. Information related to commodities, consumer affairs, consumer cooperatives, and schemes is also available in this section Vinay added.
Interacting with the inhabitants Vinay Gupta added that to supplement the Government efforts, the industrial organizations should also come forward and take an active part in strengthening the existing food and safety regulations. He said industrial establishments should be law-abiding so that the quantum of offenses is reduced.
“Manufacturers have the social responsibility to eradicate various unethical trade practices, besides striving hard for upholding the standards of their products so that the consumers get the quality products,” said the BJP senior leader Vinay. He said We should work towards creating quality consciousness in the country and win the confidence of our customers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been a role model and a very popular leader who has given us the message that we should all work collectively towards making India a developed nation in Amrit Kaal by creating an environment that contributes to serving the customers well, Vinay Gupta said. This is because the PM has always focussed on the customer and this is why he has always emphasized quality, Gupta explained.
