ON HOW TO START A START-UP
As an initiative to create a great ecosystem for the startups,
Government Polytechnic Jammu organized a one day workshop on 13 th May 2023 on
the topic “How to start a start-up” for the 6 th semester students and on
“Intellectual Property Rights” for all the faculty and staff of the institution.
The workshop was organized with the objective of building up a
Startup environment in the college which can help in creating more number of
successful entrepreneurs thereby solving the unemployment problems and bringing
a sustainable economic solution.
Dr. Manish Gupta, Dean Research and Innovation, Baba Farid Group of
Institutions was the resource person for the workshop. While delivering his speech,
Dr. Manish shared the success stories of many aced entrepreneurs. He said that a
budding entrepreneur, before launching his product, should have a clear cut vision,
good business plan and the scope of customers who would use the product.
Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal Government Polytechnic Jammu also
addressed the students and advised them to believe in themselves and work hard in
order to achieve their dream. He also said that entrepreneurship is not only about to
dream but to act as well. Start-ups are the engines of the exponential growth of the
new India as envisioned by our worthy Prime Minister, he added.
The next session was conducted for the faculty and staff on Intellectual
Property Rights. The session proved to be an insightful forum for discussion of
developing an IPR Cell in the institute. The speaker emphasized the role of patents
in innovation and highlighted the process for facilitating the same in the institute
level.
