Vinayaka Chaturthi also known as Ganesh Chaturthi is a day celebrated as Hindu Festival to commemorate and celebrate the arrival of Ganesh ji from Kailash Parvat to the Earth with their Mother ‘Maa Parvati’. This festival is celebrated by the mark of presence of Ganesh ji’s idol at home, in Public Places, towns and temples. Then from the very day till the idol is kept at place every day is celebrated as a festive day.
Rhymes, Artis, Nukkar Nataks, bhajans, songs etc. on Ganesh ji are sung whole day to celebrate the presence of Ganesh Ji on earth. Daily ambrosia or called Parsadam in sanskrit is distributed among all the bhagats after the Ganesha Arti at night. The Parsadam usually includes modak as it is called the favourite food of Ganesh ji. Many bhagats offer sweets, cloth, idols, flowers, eatables etc. In temples and idol kept place to show their love for Ganesh ji.
These festive days lasts for ten days from start. In all these days Ganesh ji’s idol is dressed newly by their devotees, their presence is Celebrated with great enthusiasm even many contests are held to aware the small chily about the day and enable them to participate in the Ganesh Chaturthi. The story of Ganpati ji is recited and told by Pandit jis and Gyanis to the bhagat and devotees to acknowledge them about the real value of the days.
But it’s really unbelievable how the first day lasts and the last days comes because daily the schedule of the day gets turn over with new surprises and shows that increases the enthusiasm and interest among people.
When the festival ends after 10 days, the idol of Ganesh ji is carried in a public posession with music, dance and the group chanting “GANPATI BAPPA MAURYA”. Then after travelling some distance the idol is immersed in a nearby water body with overwhelming emotional devotees who are going to miss the presence of Ganesh ji at their home for the coming one year and will celebrate the same next year with great enthusiasm.
After the Ganesh ji’s idol immersed in water body it dissolves and Ganesh ji is believed to return to Mount kailash to Parvati maa and Shiv ji (his parents).
This day has its unique Importance in all the states, territories and countries. Everyone has different ways to Celebrate the presence of Ganesh ji in these days.
