ALERT: NHPC Salal Dam Gates Opened

Bimpal Singh || Reasi: Emergency situation has arisen due to heavy rainfall and excessive silt accumulation in the reservoir of NHPC Salal Dam which is beyond permissible level. In view of the situation, the flushing of Dam Reservoir which was scheduled on 22/08/2020 is being preponed. Dam gates were opened today i.e 21/08/2020 at 2:30 PM. The result will be increase in the water flow and level of river Chenab may increase. As such, movement of people, vehicles and pets along the river bank during this period is not advisable.
