Jammu Mayor appealed to the street vendors to apply for loan upto Rs 10,000 under PMSVANN Scheme

Jammu 16:- A press conference was held today at the conference hall of JMC by Hon’ble Mayor, JMC Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta accompanied by Hon’ble Deputy Mayor, JMC Adv. Purnima Sharma and Commissioner, Jammu municipal corporation Ms. Avny Lavasa (IAS), Chairman Social Justice Committee Sh Jeet Lal Angral highlighting the work done by JMC to combat the spread of COVID-19 pandemic which includes fogging/spraying, installation of disinfectant tunnels at various public places. Hon’ble mayor requested the general public to maintain social distancing norms and take precautionary measures. He further stressed that as the government has increased the testing rate per day there is no need for panic.

He also appealed the street vendors to apply for loan up to Rs 10,000 under PM Street Vendor’s Atma Nirbhar Nidhi scheme recently announced by central government for street vendors to make them self reliant. It is to be launched by Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, J&K shortly. While highlighting the benefits of the scheme, Hon’ble Mayor spoke of street vendors as an important constituent of the urban economy. They are known by different names like vendors, hawkers, thelewala, rehriwala etc. The COVID-19 pandemic and consequent lockdowns have adversely impacted the livelihoods of street vendors. Therefore, there is an urgent need to provide credit for working capital to street vendors to resume their business. JMC has started a mega drive To identify all those street vendors and get them registered till date. It’s a golden opportunity to get them covered under ongoing survey through concerned area nodal officers designated for the same. The registered street vendors can avail the facility of capital loan under PM SVA Nidhi by going to the nearest bank where they can apply manually or can opt for online application on PM SVA Nidhi website.
