Jharkhand : Sharpening his criticism of the opposition’s alleged Muslim appeasement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed on Tuesday that a district in Jharkhand has shifted its holiday from Sunday to Friday, questioning if the opposition is now challenging Christian practices as well.
Addressing an election rally in Dumka, Jharkhand, Modi stated that the tradition of a Sunday holiday was established by the Christian community during British rule and is not associated with Hindus. “This tradition has been in place for the last 200-300 years. Now, in one district, they’ve changed the Sunday holiday to Friday. Are they now in conflict with Christians too? What is this?” Modi questioned.
The Prime Minister reiterated his accusation that the INDIA bloc aims to provide reservations to Muslims based on religion and pledged to prevent any attempt to take away reservations from Dalits, Tribals, and OBCs.
“The INDIA alliance wants to give reservations to Muslims on a religious basis. I want to tell them that as long as I am alive, no one will be able to take away the reservations of Tribals, Dalits, backward classes, and extremely backward classes to give them to Muslims, those who engage in ‘vote jihad,’” Modi declared.
Modi further accused the opposition of disregarding the interests of the tribal community, stating that they are only focused on their vote bank.
“For the INDIA alliance, only their vote bank matters. They have no concern for the tribal community’s interests. Whenever they gained power, the tribal society and culture were endangered. Their tools against the tribals are Naxalism, infiltration, and appeasement,” he added.
