RAMBAN, JULY 08: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gool, Imtiaz, convened a crucial Sub-Division Level Disaster Management and Coordination Meeting today. The meeting aimed to review preparedness against disasters like floods, landslides, and cloudbursts, enhance inter-departmental coordination, and ensure efficient relief measures in the sub-division.
The meeting gathered a diverse array of officials, including Tehsildar Harjeet Singh, SDPO Kuldeep Raj, Naib Tehsildar Inktikhab Ahmed, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) Sanjay Sharma, and various representatives from critical departments such as Health, PDD, and SDRF. Additionally, officers from 23 RR Gool, Beacon Mahore, and Batote participated to lend their expertise.
During the meeting, attendees conducted a comprehensive review of the existing disaster management plan. Discussions focused on the availability of personnel and machinery, essential commodities stock, and the operational status of control rooms and communication systems. The SDM urged all departments to stay vigilant during the ongoing monsoon season, emphasizing round-the-clock monitoring in areas susceptible to landslides and flash floods.
Imtiaz stressed preemptive action and seamless inter-departmental coordination to effectively respond to any emergencies. He instructed the Jal Shakti, PWD, and PMGSY departments to pinpoint vulnerable spots and keep restoration teams equipped and on standby for immediate action.
The Health department received directives to maintain a consistent supply of medicines, ambulances, and medical staff at CHC Gool and the Primary Health Centres (PHCs). In addition, the FCS&CA department was tasked with ensuring a sufficient buffer stock of food supplies, while PDD was responsible for establishing backup power arrangements.
Further engagements included instructing Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars to regularly survey risk-prone areas, keep updated lists of vulnerable zones, and promote safety measures among the public. Community involvement emerged as a crucial theme, as Imtiaz encouraged locals to share vital information regarding safety protocols during water-related disasters.
In tandem, the police and 23 RR were mandated to assist with rescue and evacuation operations, while representatives from Beacon received orders to prioritize early restoration of blocked roads.
The SDM reaffirmed that ensuring public safety remains the administration’s utmost priority. He noted that effective coordination, timely responses, and active community cooperation are essential in reducing the adverse effects of disasters. Imtiaz assured that the administration stands fully prepared to tackle any challenges posed by natural calamities.
