On Monday, Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, inaugurated a modern multipurpose indoor sports hall in Khour, marking a pivotal leap in bolstering sports infrastructure in the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir. The initiative aims to provide inclusive facilities, fostering a vibrant sports culture among the youth.
During the inauguration, Minister Sharma emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing sports facilities, especially in rural and border regions. He stated, “We are dedicated to ensuring that our youth have access to quality sports infrastructure, which is essential for nurturing and developing their talents.”
“Quality sports infrastructure at the grassroots level plays a crucial role in identifying, nurturing and grooming sporting talent,” Sharma added. He highlighted the importance of sports in promoting discipline and a healthy lifestyle among the younger population.
The newly inaugurated hall features three badminton courts, six table tennis courts, along with a volleyball court, two judo courts, and two wrestling and kabaddi courts. This range of facilities supports various sports, creating a comprehensive training environment for aspiring athletes.
Sharma also took the opportunity to interact with local youth and sportspersons, encouraging them to utilize the newly available facilities fully. He reassured the audience of the government’s ongoing efforts to prioritize sports development and youth engagement across Jammu and Kashmir.
