NDA Takes Early Lead in Bihar Assembly Elections 2023

In the Bihar Assembly elections, the NDA has announced an early lead, securing 166 seats, leaving the opposition INDIA bloc trailing with only 59 seats as counting continues.

PATNA, Nov 14: The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has surged ahead in the early counting trends of the Bihar Assembly elections, securing leads in 166 out of 243 seats, well above the majority mark of 122, as verified by the Election Commission.

The opposition INDIA bloc, meanwhile, trails significantly, currently showing leads in just 59 seats. Analysts caution that these figures may change as several counting rounds are pending, leaving the final outcome uncertain.

Within the NDA, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leads in 72 seats, followed closely by the Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] in 71 seats. The Lok Janashakti Party (Rashtriya) holds 18 seats, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) [HAM(S)] leads in four, and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Morcha (RLM) is leading in one seat.

For the INDIA bloc, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) claims a lead in 43 seats, while the Congress Party is ahead in eight constituencies. The Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation leads in six seats, and the CPI and CPI(M) each have a lead in one seat.

Notably, the Jan Suraaj Party, led by Prashant Kishor, and Mukesh Sahani’s VIP are trailing in all contests they participated in.

Among key candidates, RJD’s Khesari Lal Yadav is trailing in Chhapra, while BJP’s Maithili Thakur has taken the lead in Alinagar. Meanwhile, **Osama Shahab** of the RJD is showing a lead in Ragunathpur, and JD(U) minister Leshi Singh is currently ahead in Dhamdaha.

The INDIA bloc’s Chief Ministerial face, Tejashwi Yadav, has a lead in Raghopur, while Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary in Tarapur and Vijay Kumar Sinha in Lakhisarai are also leading in their respective constituencies.

In Mahua, Tej Pratap Yadav finds himself in fourth place as LJP(RV)’s Sanjay Kumar Singh leads the charge.

The dynamics of Bihar’s political landscape continue to evolve, and stakeholders await the final declaration of results with keen anticipation. As the counting progresses, both alliances reflect on strategies for the forthcoming legislative term amidst rising expectations.
