Srinagar, September 20: The Director General of Police (DGP), Nalin Prabhat, asserted today that no guilty individual should escape justice and no innocent person should be harmed. His remarks came during a high-level security review meeting held in Sopore, where he underscored the importance of balanced policing.
Prabhat stressed the need for operational vigilance, calling for enhanced area domination, rigorous naka checking, and continuous night patrolling to counter the persistent threat of terrorism. He urged officers to apply both kinetic and non-kinetic measures to maintain pressure on militants and their networks, while safeguarding the rights of law-abiding citizens.
During the meeting, DGP Prabhat directed Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) to bolster public engagement. He emphasized ensuring free movement for all citizens and providing a prompt response to genuine grievances. According to him, Police Stations must remain strong, responsive, and community-oriented, as they are the foundational units of policing.
During his visit, Prabhat inaugurated the newly established Special Operations Group (SOG) complex in Sopore. He chaired discussions with senior officials, including Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V K Birdi and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) North Kashmir Maqsood-ul-Zaman, to assess the current security landscape and operational challenges in the region.
SSP Sopore Iftkhar Talib provided a briefing on the security situation, communicating ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in the district. The DGP acknowledged the dedication of the SOG Sopore members and called upon all ranks to exhibit professionalism, synergy, and commitment to protect both lives and property. Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of preserving the hard-earned peace within the Union Territory.
