As tensions between India and Pakistan escalate, the Congress Party has come out strongly in support of the armed forces, launching a nationwide Jai Hind Yatra to express solidarity with India’s soldiers and condemn the recent terrorist attacks.
Congress general secretary in-charge of communications Jairam Ramesh said India has once again been challenged and its patience tested, but history shows the country has always delivered a befitting reply.
“Whenever someone has challenged the self-respect and self-esteem of India, we have given them a befitting reply,” Ramesh posted in Hindi on X.
“When our soldiers roar with passion to sacrifice every drop of their blood to protect this land, the heart of the enemy shivers. The terrorists have ruthlessly killed innocent people, and they will have to pay the price.”
Ramesh emphasized that every Congress worker stands with the Indian Army during this difficult time.
“We are taking out a Jai Hind Yatra across the country today in support of our brave soldiers. We are proud of our soldiers. Jai Hind ki Sena,” he said.
Full Support to Government’s Decisions
Congress spokesperson Ragini Nayak reiterated the party’s support for the government.
“If the Indian government takes any major decision against Pakistan, then our full cooperation and support is with the government,” Nayak said at a press conference at the Congress headquarters on 24, Akbar Road.
She stressed that the Indian Army is working day and night to respond to Pakistan’s attacks and called on all citizens to unite in boosting the Army’s morale.
Nayak also appealed to the government to prioritize the safety of people in villages and cities near the India-Pakistan border and provide assistance to families affected by the recent violence, particularly in Poonch.
Background: India’s Firm Response
On the night of Wednesday and Thursday, the Indian Armed Forces neutralized Pakistan’s attempt to strike military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur, and other locations using missiles and drones.
According to the defence ministry, Pakistan tried to target military installations in 15 cities across northern and western India, including Srinagar, Amritsar, Chandigarh, and Bhuj.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday declared that “no limit would become an obstacle to protect India’s sovereignty” and assured the nation that India is fully prepared for necessary responses.
Early Wednesday, under Operation Sindoor, the Indian Armed Forces carried out missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that left 26 civilians dead.
