MeT Predicts ‘Dry and Hot’ Weather Amid Rising Temperatures in J&K

SRINAGAR, May 22: The meteorological department on Wednesday predicted mainly dry and hot weather across Jammu and Kashmir for the next few days. According to a department official, no significant weather activity is expected until May 28, but a “heat wave” is anticipated over the plains of the Jammu Division.
Meanwhile, night temperatures have continued to rise, with Srinagar recording a low of 14.2°C, up from 13.2°C the previous night, which is 2.5°C above the average for this time of year.
In other areas:
- Qazigund recorded a minimum temperature of 11.6°C, up from 10.6°C, which is 1.3°C above normal.
- Pahalgam had a low of 7.5°C, up from 6.2°C, which is 1.3°C above normal.
- Kokernag recorded a minimum of 11.4°C, up from 10.8°C, which is 1.3°C above normal.
- Kupwara recorded a low of 10.7°C, up from 10.5°C, which is 0.3°C above normal.
- Gulmarg recorded a minimum of 11.0°C, up from 8.2°C, which is 4.2°C above normal.
In the Jammu region, the temperatures are also rising:
- Jammu recorded a low of 27.1°C, up from 24.7°C, which is 2.7°C above normal.
- Banihal recorded a low of 13.2°C.
- Batote recorded 17.5°C.
- Bhaderwah recorded a low of 14.8°C.
Residents are advised to prepare for the upcoming heat wave and stay hydrated.
