SRINAGAR, May 20: Night temperatures have decreased across most parts of Jammu and Kashmir, with generally dry weather expected over the coming week.
According to a meteorological department official, Srinagar recorded a low of 12.4°C on Monday, down from 13.8°C the previous night, which is 0.7°C above the average for this time of year in the summer capital.
Qazigund, the gateway town to Kashmir, saw its minimum temperature drop to 10.2°C from 10.8°C, 0.1°C above normal. In Pahalgam, temperatures fell to 6.5°C from 6.1°C, 0.3°C above the typical range for the famous south Kashmir resort.
Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 9.7°C, down from 10.8°C the previous night, which is 0.3°C below normal. Kupwara town saw a decrease to 9.6°C from 11.0°C, 0.7°C below the average for this time of year.
Gulmarg, the renowned skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, remained steady at 8.0°C, which is 1.3°C above normal. In Jammu, the winter capital of J&K, the low was 25.1°C, down from 25.7°C, 0.7°C above average.
Other recorded temperatures include Banihal at 13.0°C, Batote at 15.8°C, and Bhaderwah at 12.6°C.
The forecast indicates generally dry weather from May 20-27, with no significant weather activity expected during this period.
