Srinagar, Nov 6: On Monday, the two-day Shikara Festival, which aimed to promote Kashmir and Kashmiriyat, concluded in Delhi. The event was inaugurated on November 4, 2023, by Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Manoj Sinha. Organized by the Kashmir Education, Culture, and Science Society (KECSS), the festival featured a live performance by Aabha Hanjura, leaving the crowd mesmerized, and was attended by Shikha Rai.
Saurabh Bharadwaj, Cabinet Minister of the Delhi Government, also graced the event. It featured approximately 16 niche stalls showcasing Kashmiri cuisine, culture, including artifacts, handloom, clothing, and spices.
The festival saw a substantial turnout on both days, attracting people from diverse communities and religions. Kapil Kaul, the General Secretary of KECSS, highlighted the event’s growth, stating, “This event was created to promote Kashmir and Kashmiriyat. This year, in its second avatar, the event not only has become grand but at the same time been able to attract more cultures and communities to experience Kashmiri culture and hospitality.”
Savita Koul Shali, a KECSS spokesperson, emphasized the positive youth participation in the event, signifying a step in the right direction.
The event was co-powered by Invest Mango, Jayanti Motors Pvt Limited in association with DBS Bank, with Poshte serving as the gifting partner and Excitel as the internet partner.
