URI, May 19 : The Pir Panjal Brigade, under the aegis of Dagger Division of Chinar Corps, in collaboration with a team of 14 specialist doctors from the “Borderless World Foundation,” successfully organized a massive Medical cum Veterinary camp in the Area of Responsibility (AoR) of Mike Bn at the remote village Thajal near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector. This initiative comes as India, chairing the G20 Presidency, aims to prioritize and consolidate health initiatives, drawing on the key takeaways from previous presidencies.
The camp provided a rare opportunity for the villagers to undergo health checkups at their doorsteps, with a team of highly skilled specialists including Medicine, Chest Physician, Ophthalmologist, Gynecologist, Family Physician, General Physician, Orthopedic, Pediatric, Diabetologist, and Cardiologist. Thanks to the prevailing peace at the LoC following the ceasefire, this was the first such opportunity for the villagers.
Over 300 patients from Thajal and nearby villages received free medical aid, including laboratory investigations, medicines, and counseling for the needy and aged villagers in the border area.
The camp focused on providing free checkups, distributing medicines, and offering consultations. Special attention was given to female patients by women doctors and the gynecologist. Injured and ill animals were also treated by a veterinary doctor from the Indian Army.
In addition to providing medical assistance, the team of doctors educated the village public on the prevention of various lifestyle diseases and ways to overcome them.
The head of the medical team highlighted that the camp acted as a hub for broad-based interaction between the Army and villagers. The Indian Army was commended for its commitment to various welfare schemes and relentless pursuit of upliftment projects for society.
The civil administration, Sarpanches, and Panches praised the efforts of the Indian Army in restoring the health and well-being of the villagers in the border area.
