Jammu: Continuing it’s drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Jammu Police achieved major success by recovering 20 Kgs of poppy straw in the jurisdiction of PS Gandhi Nagar.
A police team of PS Gandhi Nagar led by SDPO South Sachit Sharma assisted by SHO PS Gandhi Nagar Inspr Pankaj Sharma while on naka duty near Amul Milk Factory rounded up four suspected persons. During search, 20 kgs of poppy straw was recovered from their possession i.e 14 Kgs was recovered from the possession of accused namely Gurmaj Singh and Rinku Singh, 3 Kgs from the possession of accused namely Satnam Singh and 3 Kgs from accused namely Vicky Sharma.
In this regard, case FIR under sections 8/15/29 of NDPS Act got registered at PS Gandhi Nagar and accused got arrested. Accused arrested was later identified as :
- Satnam Singh S/o Jatinder Singh R/o Khadur Sahib Tehsil Khadur Sahib District Taran Taran Punjab
- Vicky Sharma S/o Naval Kishore R/o Apra District Jallandhar Punjab
- Gurmaj Singh S/o Dalbir Singh R/o Jaspal District Amritsar Punjab &
- Rinku Singh S/o Kewal Singh R/o Chimapath Tehsil Baba Bakla District Amritsar Punjab.
Further investigation of the case is going on.
Jammu police is working intensively to uproot the chains of drug supply in the region and thorough questioning of the accused is going on to know the origin of the drugs supply chain.
