Jammu, 06-05-2023 : Nisar Hussain Shah,Superintendent of Police who retired on 30th of April,2023 after rendering 33 years of meritorious services in J&K Police including 2 years at the United Nations Peace Keeping Mission in Kosovo was accorded a memorable farewell in two different ceremonies that were held in Kishtwar(his last place of posting)and Jammu(his residence) respectively.Both these events were widely attended by serving and retired senior police officers,civil officers,members of the civil society,serving and retired
judges,family members,batchmates and subordinates of the retiree cop.In Kishtwar,the
superannuation cum felicitation ceremony was held on 29th of April,2023 at Tourist Reception Centre Kishtwar where all ranks of IRP 22nd Batallion Kishtwar graced the occasion.Ramesh Angral (Commandant IRP 22nd Batallion Kishtwar),Dr. Saba Fatima(Daughter of the retiree officer and Former House Surgeon,Department of

respected wife and other family members were also present on the occasion.Earlier in
the day,the outgoing cop himself organised a Blood-Donation Camp under the banner
of The Bulwark Charitable Trust at District Hospital Kishtwar.Many prominent individuals
and officers of medical fraternity including Medical Superintendent,DH Kishtwar and
other Medical Officers were present and many volunteers from the police department
and locals of Kishtwar donated blood while others present volunteered themselves for
the cause for future camps.Medical Superintendent Kishtwar and other officials
appreciated Mr. Shah’s endeavour in their respective speeches.In Jammu yesterday,
the post-retirement farewell was attended by a large number of senior police officers,
judges, civil officers,relatives,friends,colleagues and subordinate officers of the retiree at

possible support in this noble cause.Nisar Hussain Shah in his speeches in Kishtwar
and Jammu thanked all organizers,guests and well-wishers who graced the occasion
and spoke so high of him.He made a special mention of his memorable career in the
Education Department as Teacher which lasted for around 6 years before he joined the
police services.SP Nisar as teacher served at Government High School
Gursai(Mendhar),Government Boys Higher Secondary School Surankote and
Government Girls Higher Secondary School Surankote.Shah dedicated his success to
all his well-wishers and brethren in general and his late parents,wife and children in
particular.Born on 10th of April,1965 in village Potha of Tehsil Surankote(District
Poonch),Shah holds a Master’s degree in English Literature and a Post Graduate
Diploma in Criminology and Criminal Administration.He joined police force in the year
1990 as Sub-Inspector.In 33 years of service,he has held various distinguished and
important portfolios.In the early years, Shah served as Incharge PP Arnia(RS Pura) and
other Jammu based stations including Gujjar Nagar and Panjtirthi,he served as
Investigating Officer in Police Stations Pacca Danga,Gandhinagar and Satwari.After a
brief tenure in Traffic Police, Shah was posted as Law Instructor(Criminology and Law
of Crimes) at Police Academy Udhampur in 1999 and served as trainer to DySPs of
1999 batch, various Prosecuting officers and Sub-Inspectors.In the year 2000,he was
selected by the Union Home Ministry for deputation to Kosovo(Europe) as Mission
Officer in United Nations Peace Keeping Mission during Kosovo Crisis and served there
for around 2 years as Shift Leader in Kacanik,Gjilan and Pristina.During the
deputation,he travelled across many South Eastern European nations like
Greece,Paris,Serbia, Montenegro,Macedonia and Albania.After getting back to India,he
was posted as Investigating Officer in the State Vigilance Organisation,remained there
for 5-6 years, during which he Investigated many high-profile cases.In 2006,he was
posted as SHO Buddhal(Rajouri) for a year.In the year 2007,he was posted as SHO
Poonch. After a dynamic tenure there,he was transferred and posted as SHO Doda in
the year 2008 and served there till 2009 after being promoted to the rank of DySP.After
serving as Company Commander in Armed Police(9th Batallion)for 2 years,his name
was again recommended by J&K Police Headquarters for Police Academy Udhampur in
2011.As DySP Indoor and DySP Outdoor at the academy,he trained around 4 batches
of IPS officers(J&K Cadre),4 batches of KPS officers,3 batches of Prosecuting Officers
and 4 batches of Sub-Inspectors.Shah was conferred with Union Home Minister’s Medal
for Police Training in July,2016 by Ministry of Home Affairs.He was transferred to the
J&K Crime Branch in 2016 and successfully Investigated numerous sensitive cases.In
2019,he was posted as DySP Security Jammu and after serving at the Security wing for
2 years,he was promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police(w.e.f 2019) in 2021.In
January 2022,he was transferred to IRP 22nd Batallion Kishtwar as Deputy
Commandant.He remained Incharge Commandant for a period of 2-3 months during
Machail Yatra,2022 where he lead the police and other paramilitary forces as Yatra
Officer.While in IRP 22nd Batallion,he organised and lead many patriotic and mass-
awareness programmes including Tiranga Rally,symposiums on Anti-Drug awareness,
Inter-Faith Dialogue and Religious Harmony apart from running the affairs of the
Batallion with utmost sincerity and dedication.In the farewell held at Kishtwar,jawans
including Sub-Inspectors and Constabulary recruits of 2018 organised various cultural
items as a form of tribute to the outgoing officer and regarded him as their life-time
mentor.All subordinate officials including DySPs, Inspectors,Sub-Inspectors,Head-
Constables and Constables while congratulating Mr. Shah on supperanuation also
thanked him for being extraordinarily supportive and helpful to the subordinates in both
official and personal capacities.Officials from SP Shah’s personal section including his
PA,readers and others from his personal security team and the ones deputed at his
official residence also stated that working with and for an officer like him was a complete
learning and evolving experience for them which would do them a world of good in the
coming years.Continuing his relentless resolve against drug-menace and substance-
abuse,his initiative of blood-donation related campaigns over the years and his
zealousness towards reaching out to the ones in socio-economic distress,SP Nisar
Hussain Shah has recently formed The Bulwark Charitable Trust and has indeed not
retired himself from the “Jan-Seva/Khidmat-E-Khalq” he’s been upto since last more
than 3 decades.
