Srinagar, April 29: A Recruitment Rally for raising of Army Porter Company, for 600 Porters, was conducted at Dagger Sports Node, in front of Army Goodwill School, Uri, on 28 Apr to 29 Apr 2023, by the Army at Uri under the aegis of Pir Panjal Brigade.
Wide publicity for the event was given through – Print and Social Media (both Urdu and English), Defence Labour Procurement Officer (DLPO), Tehsildar, Uri and District Collector, Baramulla.
This ensured that local populace desirous of serving the nation in earnest would be afforded an opportunity to do so. Consequently a large number of aspirants from Jammu and Kashmir, including the locals of Uri and adjoining areas, participated in the rally, to enroll as porters for Army Porter Company. A total of around 1900 aspirants came forth and the recruitment was carried out over two days to select the porters.
Cdr Pir Panjal Bde vis the rally site to oversee the conduct and arrangements being made for conduct of rally and he also addressed all the aspirant recruits and briefed them upon fair conduct of the rally and asked them to inform conducting officials and civilian administration regarding anyone using a unfair means, promising them confirmed recruitment in lieu of money and deceiving them in any way.
This endeavour by the Army, is to provide job opportunities to the local populace, as well as select porters to aid the Army in its logistics in the Pir Panjal Brigade area.
