JAMMU, FEB 2: Chairman Public Health Sanitation Committee (PHSC) of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Raj Kumar Tarkhan along with his team conducted a tour of Ward No: 20 to take stock of grievances of the people of the area here today.
Those who accompanied him were Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) District President Vinay Kumar Gupta, Gandhi Nagar Mandal President Neeraj Lucky Puri, Corporator of the ward Rahul Kumar and Health Officer Dr Sanjogita Soodan.
While conducting inspection of the Ward, the team took serious note of insanitary conditions in the area despite the ongoing sanitation drive in the ward. On noticing the condition of lanes and drains which had not been cleaned properly, the Chairman PHSC directed the sanitation staff of JMC to clean the drains properly to the satisfaction of the people asserting that another inspection of the area would be conducted very soon.
During his visit to the ward, Councillor Rahul Kumar apprised the Chairman about the issues and problems pertaining to sanitation that have endangered their health.
While interacting with the people, he said that JMC has initiated sanitation drive in all JMC wards of the city. Moreover the drive is being conducted in 3 wards on daily basis, he added.
The Chairman said that he is regularly supervising the ongoing sanitation drive personally by visiting all the wards and assured that there will be no compromise at all on the issues related to health, hygiene and sanitation. He also directed the staff to work round the clock as there is no room lethargy especially during the ongoing pandemic situation.
Asserting that Jammu City is one of the best cities of the world and the onus lies on JMC to make it the best, he said that this dream can be realized only when each and every constituent of the civic body will contribute with sincerity and devotion. He expressed regret over the absence o UEED Department officials during the visit despite having been informed four days in advance. Terming it as a gross negligence on the part of the concerned officials that such attitude will have to be shun in the ultimate interest of the society at large.
Assuring better services, the chairman sought cooperation of the people in making Jammu a model city that other parts of the nation would long to emulate. He said that JMC always stands with the people and is committed to solve their problems.
