The results of DDC elections in Jammu and Kashmir are out. BJP won in Jammu while the Gupkar Alliance had its victory in Kashmir. Ex Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh commented on the results and said the results have cleared what people want in the UT.
He said “I want to thank all the voters from J&K for their potential to vote. The way they’ve brought democracy here has proved the rejection of ‘gun culture’ and Pakistan. This is the rejection of leaders like Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti who wanted article 370 back, opposed the DDC elections, asked for help from China and even refused to pick up the National flag. Today, they took part in the same elections and BJP won with huge number of 74 seats and 38% vote share. It was like BJP vs all other parties where Gupkar, a group of 6-7 parties won only 32% votes. The voting clarifies the direction people of J&K are moving.”
