COVID-19: J-K ARTO challaned 35 vehicles, realizes fine of Rs 10000

At least 15 vehicles were challaned for violating the COVID-19 guidelines while Rs 10,000 were realized from the norm violators in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

An official said that on the directions of RTO Kashmir (Regional Transport Office), ARTO Ganderbal, Arif Ahmad Shah conducted extensive checking on different inter-district routes and imposed fine on the traffic violators.

During the inspection, more than 15 vehicles were checked by the team and the violators were fined for overloading, overcharging.

Vehicles were also challaned for plying without (HSRP) High Security Registration Plates and involving in overcharging.

Speaking on the occasion, the ARTO warned the violators of strict legal action while appealing people to cooperate with the administration. He also urged drivers and passengers to follow all the requisite advisories issued with the purpose to control the spread of infection.

He said such drive will continue till next seven days and strict action will be taken against violators. He also said that the “passengers should inform us about overcharging and we will take strict action against transporters.”
