SRINAGAR, JULY 23: The State Executive Committee (SEC), which was headed by B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, Chief Secretary, J&K, sanctioned an amount of Rs. 15 crore under SDRF to major health institutions for acquiring essential equipments and procuring laboratories for handling COVID-19 pandemic. SKIMS, Srinagar; GMC Jammu and GMC Srinagar have each been sanctioned an amount of Rs.5 Crore. The funds shall be placed with Divisional Commissioners of Jammu as well as Kashmir for this purpose.
As per guidelines from ministry of home affairs, State Disaster response funds for COVID-19 containment efforts in Government Hospitals can be utilized for setting up extra testing laboratories; attainment of personal protection equipment for health workers and other related consumables for government hospitals. It is appropriate to mention that this funding under SDRF is over and above the funding that is being provided to Health Department during the year.
