Three militants killed in Shopian encounter

Three militants were killed in Amshipora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday during gunfight with the government forces.

A Senior police officer informed that three militant bodies were recovered till now in the ongoing operation. The identification of the killed militants is yet to be ascertained, the officer added.
This year, 136 militants have been killed so far in the Valley, exceeding the number of militants killed till August 2019.

According to the reports, a joint team of Police, Army’s 62 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Amshipora.

The hiding militants fired upon the police team while the joint team was encircling the suspected location. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off a gunfight. (GNS)
