A wine shop was sealed temporarily by Excise Department team led by
Inspector Mohd Arif Choudhary in Poonch town after discrepancies were
found in its record and available stock.
Official sources said that a team led by Inspector Sub Range, Poonch
along with officials Rafaqat Choudhary, Shabir Bhatt, Pardeep Kumar and
Sarfaraz Khan conducted thorough documentation and physical verification
of RK Wine Shop situated near Bus Stand at Poonch and found
discrepancies in record /papers and stock available in the shop and its
store. The team seized the record.
Thereafter, the team sealed the shop temporarily, handing legal notice
to the owner. Inspector Choudhary said that this type of checking is
being done periodically and those found guilty would be dealt according
to the law.
It is pertinent to mention here that Excise Commissioner J&K after
receiving complaints of pilferage of liquor from shops and illegal sale
during lock down period, had directed the staff to conduct physical
verification of the stock in the J&K. This exercise is still going
on in the region. This action is also part of directions of the Excise
Commissioner J&K, the sources added.
